How do you travel by plane with an 8 month old baby? How can you possibly contain this excited little person who just discovered she can move?This Friday Melissa will take her 2nd plane trip in her short life. Or more specifically, second set of plane trips. The first was when she was just 2 months old, to visit daddy's family for Christmas. And now we're visiting my side of the family for the 4th of July. I'm looking forward to it, except for the ride there, and the ride coming back. Melissa won't even let me change her diapers without a wrestling battle, so I can't imagine her content for 5 minutes in a boring plane.
I wish planes were more child friendly. It's funny, after you become a mom, you wish everything was more child friendly. Like public restrooms with loud dryers, causing all babies to scream histerically. Now I have to change her in the car always. Thank you, cheap fast food places who can't even buy paper towels for your costumers.
I have to say though, as much as Melissa's new found awareness drives me crazy, it is fun to watch her experience the world for the first time. But I just don't think there will be anything to experience in a tight economy class plane seat. Has anybody traveled with a baby this young? What did you do? Did you die? If so, please tell me!

Hi, My son flew at 2 months and right before 6 months. both times he was fine. the key for us was him sleeping most of the time, since it gets boring. On one leg of the last trip he had slept in the car so we had to do a lot of entertaining until he got sleepy again, but he never seemed to be in any pain.
I traveled with my son when he was that age and I'll behonest, it was a nightmare. He was and still is very energetic and wasn't a big fan of sitting still. So he freaked a couple of times and refused to sleep and instead chose to scream.
If you are taking a carseat, get a GoGo Kids Travelmate. It turns your carseat into a stroller and was a lifesaver. Google it. It's easy to find. It made a HUGE difference. Also, bring something for him to chew on during take off and landing. It will help his ears because they will hurt. Take more milk and snacks than you'll think he'll need and bring 3 new toys that he's never seen (that don't play music) so he'll be entertained by them.

I didn't travel by plane so I don't have any advice for you. I avoided traveling like the plague! lol That picture is adorable though!
